Our Story
The Fugitives
Logie grows the grapes and Nadine makes the wine. Two mates who believe there's a better way to grow, make & package wine. These two met way back while working as a viticulturist and winemaker for a well-known wine company. In 2021, they started Fugitive on a mission to do things differently.
For Fugitive, being organic is about positive change & making wines that are part of the solution - better for us, better for the land & better for our planet.
But being organic is only half the story, we want to make wines with the lowest carbon footprint possible and that is why we only use low-carbon reusable or recyclable packaging for our wine. Join us in making the Fugitive story part of your story too!
Why Organic?
Being organic is where it all started for us.
This means we grow our grapes with no synthetic chemical fertilisers, pesticides, or herbicides. But organics is so much more than that; we build healthy soil that is alive and full of amazing microbes. We plant cover crops and flowers amongst the vines to create biodiversity and habitat for beneficial insects.
The old saying ‘great wine starts in the vineyard’ couldn’t be more true, and we believe organic wines are better for us, better for the planet and a true expression of their land.
Why wine in a box?
Box wine has been relegated to the bargain shelf for too long, but not anymore! We believe it's what’s on the inside that counts and have put premium organic wine in a box.
There is so much to love about this little cardboard gem; it's so compact and portable and can go where no wine bottle dares to travel. Our 2L box holds more than 2 ½ bottles, perfect for sharing the wine love with a house full of friends. Or just pour yourself a glass (or two), as once opened it stays fresh way longer than wine in glass bottles do!
And of course, it's good for the planet. Studies have shown that bag-in-box packaging has the lowest carbon footprint of all the wine packaging available with its carbon emission (CO2e/L) during production being 87% less than lightweight glass. So, what's not to love? It's better for your lifestyle and better for the planet.
Why wine on-tap?
What is better than recycling? Reusing! Every time we reuse a glass bottle or refill a keg we can halve its carbon footprint. Our wine on tap is filled into reusable stainless-steel kegs and served fresh on-tap in a bottle shop or bar near you.
This minimises waste, both in wine and packaging and ensures the wine is as fresh and tasty as the day it left the winery!
There is also a huge environmental benefit of reusing kegs; a study from The University of California showed a stainless-steel keg reused 100 times had a carbon footprint 95% lower than single-use glass bottles.
Wine on-tap just makes sense- less waste, lower carbon footprint and fresher tasting wine.
